More than just another downtown law firm - we're the people you actually want on your side when things get complicated
Look, we're not gonna pretend we're some stuffy old-guard firm. We've built this practice from the ground up, and every single person here brings something real to the table.
Founding Partner
Started this whole thing back in 2008 after getting tired of billable hour quotas at big firms. Marcus handles our complex M&A deals and honestly lives for the challenge of untangling messy corporate structures. He's got this weird ability to explain complicated stuff without making you feel dumb about it.
Senior Partner, Litigation
Joined us in 2011 and hasn't lost a major commercial dispute since 2015. Sarah's courtroom presence is something else - she can read a room better than anyone I've ever seen. Outside of litigation, she basically rebuilt our entire compliance practice from scratch.
Partner, Corporate Governance
Dave's the guy companies call when they're worried about staying on the right side of regulations. He came on board in 2014 after spending years at the OSC, so he knows exactly how regulators think. Plus he actually returns emails, which apparently makes him a unicorn in this industry.
Partner, IP & Employment
Jen's background in tech before law school gives her an edge most IP lawyers just don't have. She actually understands what your developers are talking about. Made partner in 2019 and has been crushing it ever since, especially with startups navigating their first serious employment issues.
Seventeen years of figuring things out, making mistakes, learning fast, and somehow building something we're actually proud of.
Marcus hung out his shingle with basically just a laptop and way too much confidence. First office was a shared space on King Street that smelled like old carpet. We handled whatever walked through the door - contract reviews, small business formations, you name it.
Sarah joined and immediately landed us a commercial dispute case that put us on the map. The other side had a Bay Street firm with probably 50 lawyers, and we still came out ahead. That case taught us we could actually compete with the big guys without pretending to be them.
Moved to Bay Street (yeah, we became what we mocked) but kept our approach the same. Dave came aboard and helped us build out a real corporate governance practice. Started turning down work that didn't fit our focus - scary at the time, best decision we ever made.
Started getting more tech companies as clients and realized we needed someone who actually understood that world. Brought on Jen and a couple associates with technical backgrounds. Turns out there's a huge market for lawyers who don't glaze over when someone mentions APIs or data architecture.
Like everyone else, we went fully remote overnight. Unlike everyone else, we actually made it work long-term. Kept the office but stopped treating it like a prison. Turns out people do better work when you trust them to manage their own time.
Best year on record for both revenue and client satisfaction. Handled three major M&A deals, won several high-stakes disputes, and managed to not lose our minds in the process. Added six new associates and actually have a waitlist for employment applications now.
Twenty-three lawyers, support staff who actually know what they're doing, and clients who stick around because they want to, not because they're locked into some retainer. We're not the biggest firm in Toronto, but we might be one of the most effective. And yeah, we're still figuring stuff out as we go.

Years in Practice
We're not gonna give you some corporate mission statement that sounds like it came from a consultant's PowerPoint. Here's what we actually care about when we come to work.
Legal work moves at the pace of business now, not whenever we feel like getting around to it. We respond fast because your problems don't wait.
Legal jargon exists for a reason, but that doesn't mean every conversation needs to sound like we swallowed a law dictionary. We explain stuff clearly.
We charge for the value we deliver, not for how long we can stretch out a project. Efficiency helps everyone.
We're building relationships here, not just billing hours. Your success over time matters way more than any single fee.
Let's talk about what you're dealing with and see if we're a good fit.
